MEMPHIS--Christian Brothers University was well-represented again on the Fall 2007 Academic All-Gulf South Conference Teams with five earning Academic All-GSC honors and 42 earning a spot on the GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

CBU placed two players each on the men's cross country and men's soccer All-Academic Teams and one player on the women's soccer team.

First-team All-GSC juniors John Waldorf (South Elgin, Ill./St. Edward HS) and Stephen Hill (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) each earned a place on the Academic All-GSC Team. Hill earned his second straight berth on the team, while Waldorf is a first-time selection. Both were unanimous selections.

In men's soccer, senior midfielders Matt Werakso (Wollongong, Australia) and Brian McNamara (Lafayette, La./Lafayette HS) were named to the team. Werakso, a unanimous choice, was also named to the Academic All-GSC Team last season.

Junior defender Jeanine Abell (Chattanooga, Tenn./Notre Dame HS) rounded out CBU's contingent, earning a spot on the women's soccer Academic All-GSC Team.

The Academic All-GSC Teams are selected by a joint vote of the Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives of GSC schools. SID's and FAR's were not allowed to vote for their own players. To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.20 GPA and be a significant contributor to the team.

CBU's total of 42 named to the GSC Fall Academic Honor Roll is fifth-most of the GSC's 15 schools and second-most among schools that do not play football. The men's soccer team led the way with 11 players named to the Honor Roll, followed by volleyball with nine, men's cross country and women's soccer with eight each, and women's cross country with six. All student-athletes who participated during the season and carried at least a 3.0 GPA are named to the Academic Honor Roll.
