Lance Renton is in his first year as CBU's graduate assistant baseball coach.

Renton excelled in two seasons as the starting shortstop at Tennessee-Martin, hitting .312 with 62 RBI and a .431 on base percentage. His 16 doubles in 2007 ranks third in UTM's single-season record books.

Prior to enrolling at Tennessee-Martin, Renton was a first-team All-Conference player at Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Fla.

Renton graduated from Lake Highland Prep School in Orlando, Fla., where he helped lead his team to three district championships. His high school coach was 1988 American League Cy Young Award Winner and three-time All-Star Frank Viola.
