Palmer Signs With Bucs

May 2, 2008

MEMPHIS--Christian Brothers University men's basketball coach Mike Nienaber has announced the signing of Hernando (Miss.) High School guard Jimmy Palmer to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bucs in the 2008-09 season.

Palmer, a 6-3 sharpshooter, averaged 10.4 points per game this season as he led Hernando to a 28-7 record and the Division 2-4A State Championship. As a junior, he averaged a team-high 17 ppg to help Marshall Academy to a 32-12 record and a North Half runner-up finish.

"With his shooting ability, Jimmy is a good fit for our system, especially with the three-point line moving back next year," Nienaber said.

Palmer was selected for the Tennessee/Mississippi All-Star Game, and he was named one of the top 40 seniors in Mississippi by the Jackson Clarion-Ledger. As a junior, he was named to the All-State Team, while he was All-District as a senior as well. He also played baseball, football, and golf at Marshall Academy.

Palmer is the Bucs' third signee, joining Cincinnati-area products Scott Dennis and Daniel Wulker.
