No. 18 Falcons Blank Bucs 1-0

Nov. 2, 2007

Final Stats

PENSACOLA, Fla.--All-conference goalkeeper Melford James, Jr., made four saves to help No. 18 Montevallo take a 1-0 victory over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Friday night in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament.

The Falcons (16-2-1) scored the game's only goal in the 15th minute when Jim Witherow headed in a Glenn Murphy corner kick. From there, CBU junior goalkeeper Daniel Foster (Gallatin, Tenn./Gallatin HS) kept the Bucs (11-6-2) in the game by making five saves.

The Bucs out-shot Montevallo 17-12 for the night, but the Bucs could never push one past James, who earned his 10th shutout of the season.

The Bucs' season has ended on a one-goal loss to Montevallo two years in a row. Last year, the Falcons topped CBU 2-1 in overtime.
