Lady Tigers Top Lady Bucs 3-1

Oct. 18, 2007

Final Stats

MEMPHIS--Two quick goals lifted visiting Ouachita Baptist to a 3-1 Gulf South Conference win over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Wednesday night in the heavy rain at Signaigo Field.

The Lady Tigers (12-2-2, 6-1 GSC) scored first in the third minute as Kendall Cooper headed in a corner kick from Sarah Reed. Less than 90 seconds later, Joyce Hansen scored an unassisted goal from the top of the box to put Ouachita ahead 2-0.

OBU continued to control the game in the first half, holding a 5-0 edge in shots, all on goal, in the first 28 minutes.

The Lady Bucs (7-6-1, 1-3-1) controlled the play over the final 17 minutes of the second half and the whole second half, but Ouachita capitalized on its only chance, with Hansen scoring on a breakaway after a pass from Alicia Marshall.

The Lady Bucs, who out-shot OBU 12-1 in the second half, finally broke through as senior midfielder Rachael Valenzuela (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central HS) scored an unassisted goal in the 88th minute.

CBU out-shot Ouachita 15-7, including 8-7 in shots on goal, but OBU keeper Taylor Jordan made seven saves, including one on a penalty kick, to give OBU the win.

The Lady Bucs will be back in action Sunday afternoon as they visit Harding.
