Lady Bisons Pull Away From Lady Bucs 6-1

SEARCY, Ark.--Harding senior forward Kendyl Washburn celebrated her senior day with five goals as Harding defeated the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs 6-1 Sunday afternoon.

The win clinches a berth in the Gulf South Conference Tournament for Harding (9-7-1, 4-2-1 GSC) and eliminates the Lady Bucs (7-7-1, 1-4-1) from postseason contention.

The Lady Bucs scored first as senior midfielder Rachael Valenzuela (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central HS) scored on a long shot in the 21st minute. Chelsea Smith put Harding on the board in the 23rd minute, and Washburn took over in the 32nd minute with the first of her five straight goals.

Washburn's other four goals came in the second half, in the 56th, 76th, 78th, and 82nd minutes as Harding pulled away.

For the game, the Lady Bisons out-shot CBU 13-11, with a 10-6 edge in shots on goal.

The Lady Bucs have two road GSC games on tap this week, visiting Alabama-Huntsville Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. and West Georgia Sunday afternoon at noon. The Lady Bucs finish their season at home against Rhodes Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m.
