Final Stats

MEMPHIS--Rhodes scored four second-half goals to take a 4-2 victory over the Christian Brothers University Lady Bucs Tuesday night at Signaigo Field.

The Lady Bucs (8-9-1) led 2-0 at halftime and as late as the 66th minute in their final game of the season, but Rhodes (11-6-1) scored three goals in a six-minute span near the end of the game to take the victory.

Senior forward Courtney Robertson (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley HS) scored her 14th goal of the year off a cross from freshman defender Rachel Longley (Middlesbrough, England) in the 24th minute. CBU took what seemed to be a commanding 2-0 lead five minutes later as sophomore midfielder Kristi Ansboury (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral HS) finished off a corner kick sequence with her second goal of the year. Senior midfielder Francesca DeRanzo (Columbia, Tenn./Columbia Central HS) took the corner kick and played it short to freshman defender Samantha de Melo (Langley, B.C./Langley Secondary). De Melo crossed it into the box, and Ansboury put a header in the net.

CBU had several more chances in the first half, as they out-shot Rhodes 13-3 for the half, but they couldn't find the net again. CBU appeared to have the game in control early in the second half, but a Kara Purdy header in the 66th minute put the Lynx on the board. In the 80th minute, Bailey Morgan tied the game as she lofted a shot over the CBU defense into the net. Purdy scored the go-ahead goal off a cross from Jessie Cassidy. Caroline Voelkel tacked on the final goal in the 85th minute.

For the game, CBU out-shot Rhodes 20-10, including a 12-8 margin in shots on goal, but Becca Clarin made nine saves for Rhodes.

The Lady Bucs finished their season 8-9-1 overall, with a 2-5-1 mark in GSC play. Before the game, the Lady Bucs honored their five seniors: goalkeeper Sarah Plummer (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central HS), defender Heidi Routch (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central HS), midfielder Rachael Valenzuela (Lawrenceburg, Ind./East Central HS), DeRanzo, and Robertson.
