In 2004, he led the team to an 18-11 mark and a trip to the Gulf South Conference Volleyball Tournament. Both Washington and Kimbrell were named First-Team All-GSC West. The team has consistently posted the highest grade point average of any team at CBU.

Under his direction, Washington was named the GSC West Freshman of the Year in 2003. Washington and sophomore Nan Kimbrell were named second-team All-GSC that year.
